The Denver Justice and Peace Committee (DJPC) is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting human rights, economic justice, and lasting peace in Latin America through education, solidarity projects, legislative advocacy, and nonviolent activism. We currently have a committed membership base and an active volunteer board. We are looking for a part time Program Director with excellent leadership skills, vision and the motivation to move DJPC forward. The principal goal of this position is to oversee day to day organizational functions and support as well as expand on the programmatic goals of the organization. The Program Director is supervised by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

•  Assume day to day leadership role at DJPC and administration of office

•  Recruit and coordinate volunteers/interns/contractors for office work, educational events, and other DJPC program activities

•  Work with board members, program committees and ad hoc committees to define and oversee DJPC programs and goals

•  Support committee and program work and facilitate communication between the committees

•  Attend DJPC board meetings and coordinate the presentation of the status of all DJPC program activities

•  Develop and expand the membership base

•  Direct media relations

•  Assist in the development and implementation of the fundraising plan

•  Coordinate database maintenance and bookkeeping

•  Coordinate the fund letter and quarterly Mustard Seed newsletter mailings

•  Maintain and expand community outreach relationships with partner organizations such as churches, universities, foundations, and other peace and justice organizations

Skills/Education/Experience Required

•  Strong leadership skills

•  People oriented - enjoy communicating with members and networking

•  Experience and interest in recruiting and managing volunteers

•  Excellent work delegation skills

•  Experience in fundraising and membership development preferred

•  Ability to multi-task (and enjoy it!)

•  Ability to work a flexible schedule

•  Commitment to peacemaking non-violence

•  Interest in/knowledge of Latin America issues

•  Microsoft Office computer skills

•  Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with people with differing cultural backgrounds

•  Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required

•  Proficiency with Spanish language a plus

 

Employment Parameters

•  24 hour work week; Salary in the low-mid twenties
